A person on the other side.

Bots and AI generated content are part of it, but I think the bigger problem is that online identity has become disposable. If an account behaves badly, it disappears and another one takes its place.

I still value anonymity. I do not think we should have to publish our real names just to have a meaningful conversation online.

But anonymity without any accountability clearly has problems too.

That’s what I find interesting about the idea of being anonymous while still having someone vouch for your presence.
