browsers are very finicky about allowing notifications when you’re not on the site. It could be easily abused if they weren’t.
Check at the top left of the address bar for a little icon, that shows something about site notifications when you click it.
Also go to your edit profile page there are options for slack notifications and information about browser and push notifications.
